MUSHROOM PROJECT

MUSHROOM PROJECT

Kasupe’s mushroom cultivation project provides a rich, nutritious food source for both income generation and the feeding programme.

The mushroom shed acts as a sustainable business model, offering training and an alternative livelihood for families, while further diversifying local diets.

My story – Estelle Zalimba

“I am Estelle Zalimba from the village of Chigonere, Mangochi. In 2018, Kasupe launched a mushroom production, training six men and four women, including myself. I gained the skills to produce quality mushrooms and started selling them to lodges and restaurants. With the money I earn, I was able to buy more seeds, boost production and support my family. I am now grateful to be completely self-reliant. I am teaching others in the community to produce mushrooms too, so they will become self-reliant too.”
