Modern Slavery Statement

Our Commitment

Modern slavery is a serious human rights violation, encompassing slavery, forced labour, servitude, and human trafficking. Although we are a small charity working primarily to support poverty relief and youth development in Malawi, we recognize our responsibility to uphold dignity, fairness, and justice in everything we do.

We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our operations and partnerships, and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to prevent modern slavery.

Our Operations and Supply Chain

Kasupe works directly with communities in Malawi through grassroots initiatives focused on education, sustainable development, and health. Our operations are relatively small and local, and we maintain close relationships with our project leaders and partners on the ground.

While we consider the risk of modern slavery in our own operations to be low, we remain vigilant. We aim to work only with individuals and organizations that share our values and our commitment to respecting human rights.

Ongoing Efforts

  • We ensure that all staff, volunteers, and trustees understand the importance of safeguarding against modern slavery.
  • We work with trusted local partners in Malawi who are accountable for ethical practices in their communities.
  • We review our practices periodically to identify any areas for improvement in safeguarding and transparency.

Reporting Concerns

We encourage anyone connected to Kasupe – whether a volunteer, partner, or beneficiary – to raise concerns about potential exploitation or unethical practices. Reports can be made confidentially, and we will take all concerns seriously and respond appropriately.

Looking Ahead

We are committed to continuous improvement in our approach to preventing modern slavery. As we grow and expand our work, we will continue to review our policies and ensure we do everything we can to protect the rights and welfare of all those involved in our work.
